Background

Egypt For Information Dissemination was established in June 1999 as a fully owned subsidiary of the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange now known as the Egyptian Exchange EGX.

By 2002 EGID started exclusively transmitting Egyptian stock market data to all recipientslocally and internationally.

In 2003 EGID became the main financial information gateway for Egypt,

EGID also built the first and main electronic data base of fundamental information covering the listed companies at EGX.

In 2004 EGID entered in the software development business by developing applications for stock markets, the Egyptian Exchange, Doha Securities Market of Qatar and Dubai Financial Market were the first markets in its region to become one of EGID's clients.

In 2007 EGID built its fully hosted solution for brokers in addition to a wide range of stand alone solutions for brokers.

Currently EGID is a joint venture between the Egyptian Exchange EGX and NASDAQ OMX with an aim to sell, develop and support information and technology solutions for the financial markets in the region.

This joint venture will strengthen EGID's position and goal to become the leader in the information and technology in the financial markets in the region and will bring NASDAQ OMX closer to it's customers in the Middle East and Africa.

Mission

EGID’s mission is to enhance and improve both the depth and the quality of information together with the level of information dissemination technology used by the different market players.

EGID combine together technology with information to make financial markets work better, not only in Egypt but in the region as well. The enhancement of the efficiency of the region's Stock Exchanges and the increase in the level of automation and transparency will build the investors’ confidence in the regions’ Capital market.
